The Story of Tiger Balm
The story begins in the 19th century in Rangoon (Yangon), where herbalist Aw Chu Kin founded a small apothecary, Eng Aun Tong — the Hall of Everlasting Peace. His remedies were rooted in traditional knowledge passed down through generations.
After his passing, his sons, Aw Boon Haw and Aw Boon Par, carried on the work, refining an ancient herbal formula once used in imperial China. Together, they transformed it into a widely trusted ointment known as “Ten Thousand Golden Oils.”
By the early 1900s, the product was renamed Tiger Balm and expanded across Southeast Asia, eventually becoming a globally recognized remedy — still rooted in the same blend of tradition, practicality, and everyday care.
